News: "Starting this
weekend, the BBC marks the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death with
a week of programming dedicated to his life and music. The season kicks
off in spectacular fashion, with Radio 4's broadcast of a previously

November 2005 - Monthly Summary:
"The Dick Cavett Show: John &
Yoko Collection" 2 DVD set is released on November 1st.
During the 1st week of November,
"The Concert For Bangladesh" DVD hit the #1 spot in both the official
UK chart and Billboard chart in the US (music video chart listings).
The Bangladesh CD reissue did not chart.
The "Live 8" DVD set (including
performances by Paul McCartney) is released on November 8th.
John Lennon's solo catalogue will
be made available for digital download - starting with the "Working
Class Hero: The Definitive Lennon" compilation on November 7th. His
entire catalogue will be available for download by several services
(but not iTunes) on December 5th in the UK and on December 6th in the
US.
On November 12th, Paul McCartney
beams up a live performance of "Good Day Sunshine" and "English Tea" to
the astronauts of the Expedition 12 international space station. In
doing so, Paul becomes the first musician to broadcast live music to an
audience in space.
Paul appears on "The Ellen
DeGeneres Show" on Monday, November 14th for an interview and
performance. He’s on the show for the entire hour.
On November 18th, NBC's
"Dateline" program devotes a 2 hour show to Lennon's murder - and
murderer. This show is justifiably protested by many Beatles / Lennon
fans and Yoko Ono.
As expected, many Lennon tribute
articles appear in books, magazines and on the internet.
Paul McCartney's "Jenny Wren" UK
single is released on November 21st, including the non album tracks "I
Want You To Fly", "This Loving Game" and "Summer Of '59". The different
configurations for this release creates confusion for international
fans, especially since the official press release was inaccurate about
the track listings.
John Lennon's "Walls and Bridges"
and Sometime in New York City" reissues are released in the US on
November 22nd, amid charges of revisionism.

NEW SINGLE
‘JENNY WREN’ RELEASED TODAY!
‘Jenny Wren’ is the second single
to be taken from Paul McCartney's new highly acclaimed album ‘Chaos And
Creation In The Backyard’. Fast becoming a live favourite on Paul’s
37-date sell-out ‘US’ tour of North America and Canada, ‘Jenny Wren’ is
classic Paul McCartney. The press have described ‘Jenny Wren’ as, “his
most poignant and affecting song in years” and “endearing and
unexpectedly affecting.”
‘Jenny Wren’ is both a soulful
and mournful song with a simple and incredibly effective arrangement.
It’s difficult not to be moved by the heart tugging melody. It’s an
acoustic track in the style of much loved McCartney songs ‘Mother
Nature’s Son’, ‘Calico Sky’ and ‘Blackbird’. McCartney in fact
describes the track as “daughter of blackbird.”

LIVE PERFORMANCE FROM 'US' TOUR
CONCERT IN ANAHEIM SET TO WAKE UP CREW WITH A SPOT OF "ENGLISH TEA" AND
WISHES FOR A "GOOD DAY SUNSHINE"
The international space station
crew, 220 miles above Earth, will take a special live musical wakeup
call from Paul McCartney November 12th in a first-ever concert linkup.
The broadcast is slated to include "English Tea," from his latest
critically hailed album Chaos And Creation In The Backyard, as well as
the Beatles classic "Good Day Sunshine."
The call will emanate from
McCartney's "US" Tour performance from Anaheim, California's Arrowhead
Pond. Aboard the house-sized orbiting station, NASA Astronaut Bill
McArthur and Russian Cosmonaut Valery Tokarev are in the midst of a
six-month flight. McCartney is nearing the end of his 11-week "US"
concert tour done in support of his latest critically acclaimed album,
"Chaos And Creation In The Backyard."
During his tour, McCartney has
paid tribute to the crew of the Space Shuttle Discovery, a mission that
took place earlier this year. On Aug. 9, the crew of Discovery received
a good weather forecast for a second landing attempt, during which the
Beatles' classic "Good Day Sunshine" was played as a wakeup call by
Mission Control.
"I was extremely proud to find
out that one of my songs was played for the crew of Discovery this
summer," McCartney said. "In our concert we hope to repay the favor."
The call to the station will mark
the first time a live concert has been linked to a U.S. spacecraft.
The call will take place at 12:55
a.m. EST Nov. 13 (9:55 p.m. PST Nov. 12), as the concert is nearing its
end and McArthur and Tokarev are awakening for their 44th day in space.
The call will be broadcast live on NASA Television, with audio from
both the concert and the station and video expected of McArthur and
Tokarev.
McArthur and Tokarev are the 12th
crew of the station, which has had a continuous human presence aboard
for more than five years. The station has an internal volume larger
than an average three-bedroom house and includes the most sophisticated
space laboratory ever flown.

November 9, 2005 - PRNewswire: John Lennon's Solo
Catalogue to Be Available in Digital Format for the First Time
First
Digital Release Will Be the Definitive Greatest Hits Double Album
'Working Class Hero' on November 7, Followed by His Complete Solo
Catalogue on Dec 5
LONDON, Nov. 8
/PRNewswire/ -- For the first time ever, the whole of John Lennon's
solo catalogue will be available for exclusive digital access, starting
with the new definitive greatest hits album Working Class Hero, which
was released on CD in the UK and US in October and which will be
available to purchase in download form beginning November 7.
The entire
Lennon solo catalogue will then be made available digitally beginning
December 5th (December 6th in the US) on a variety of digital music
services.
EMI Music's
Parlophone and Capitol labels are proud to announce this major event in
digital music sales -- the very first time that Lennon tracks will be
available for purchase to a new generation of digital music consumers
via
legitimate digital music sites.
A select
number of Lennon tracks will subsequently be made available for mobile
download in coming weeks/shortly.
"Very few
artists in modern times have made such an important cultural impact as
John Lennon," said David Munns, Vice Chairman, EMI Music. "We are
delighted that his fans around the globe will be given such immediate
access to his music now that they are available for download and soon,
for mobile."
Yoko Ono said
today: "I am very happy that John's music is now available to a new
generation of music fans. New technology is something he always
embraced and this is something he would have loved. I always say
that he
would have been very excited by
all the opportunities offered by the development of new means of
communication. At this time I think it's important that we
remember John for what he contributed to the world. For people
who still love John's music and for those now getting into John's
music, this opens up a whole new world in which they can appreciate
John's music again."

WATCH THE
NEW JENNY WREN VIDEO!
You can now watch the video for Paul McCartney’s new single 'Jenny
Wren' in the Chaos and Creation Pin Board Members section at
www.paulmccartney.com .
‘Jenny Wren’ is the second single to be taken from Paul McCartney's new
highly acclaimed album ‘Chaos And Creation In The Backyard’. Fast
becoming a live favourite on Paul’s 37-date sell-out ‘US’ tour of North
America and Canada, ‘Jenny Wren’ is classic Paul McCartney. The press
have described ‘Jenny Wren’ as, “his most poignant and affecting song
in years” and “endearing and unexpectedly affecting.”
‘Jenny Wren’ is both a soulful and mournful song with a simple and
incredibly effective arrangement. It’s difficult not to be moved by the
heart tugging melody. It’s an acoustic track in the style of much loved
McCartney songs ‘Mother Nature’s Son’, ‘Calico Sky’ and ‘Blackbird’.
McCartney in fact describes the track as “daughter of blackbird.”
‘Jenny Wren’ is released on November 21st 2005
