August 24, 2005 - PR Web: John Lennon Radio Interview
Found After 30 Years Lost
Wed Aug 24, 8:00 AM ET
(PRWEB) - (PRWEB) August 24, 2005
-- Unheard since it was first broadcast, this 25 minute interview with
John Lennon finds him in a relaxed mood, discussing many different
aspects of his life. It was recorded after he had got back with Yoko
Ono following what he calls "a tough year" away from her, known as his
"lost weekend."
The interview has been made
available for anyone to buy and download from the internet in audio MP3
format exclusively at audioVille.co.uk, the speech-audio download
website.
Discovered in a deteriorating
condition on an old 8 inch reel, the interview has now been restored,
digitized and made available to the public to download for $7.
Lennon talks in depth about the
issues he had with the US authorities and the Nixon administration who
he believed kept him under watch. Lennon also discusses his life, his
relationship with Yoko Ono including their "mutual separation" in 1973,
working with Phil Spector, his former Beatles colleagues, and his
music, naming his best piece of work as 'Imagine'.
This fascinating interview adds
another dimension to the Lennon story and allows all his fans to hear
the man themselves. It is also timely since it is 25 years since his
death in December 1980.
Oliver Rowe, co-founder of
audioVille comments "This is a superb discovery and makes captivating
listening. Lennon is amusing, interesting and candid, coming across as
back on course after a bad 1974, and in his own haunting words is a man
who "apart from acts of God, will be around another 60 years or
whatever" continuing to make music "until I drop."
To hear the interview in full, go
to audioVille.co.uk and type Lennon into the search tool.

''Imagine''
BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--Aug. 18, 2005--On December 6, Warner Home Video (WHV) will
celebrate the life of John Lennon, one of the most complex and
fascinating visionaries of our time, with the long-awaited DVD debut of
"Imagine: John Lennon Deluxe Edition." Narrated by Lennon himself, the
release of this revealing and personal documentary is timed to coincide
with the 25th anniversary of the performer's untimely death (December
8, 1980) and will be available for $19.97 SRP.
Although he was best known as a
founding member of perhaps the 20th century's greatest entertainment
phenomenon, John Lennon today still maintains a strong influence as a
musician, artist, writer, philosopher, peacemaker and poet that
transcends even the awesome celebrity he achieved as one of The Beatles.
"Imagine: John Lennon" was
created with the cooperation of Lennon's widow Yoko Ono and produced by
David L. Wolper and Andrew Solt (partners on "This is Elvis"). Backed
by a monumental 36-tune soundtrack, the film draws from a treasure
trove of material, including the musician's own collection of more than
240 hours of film, much of it never publicly seen. Ono approached
Wolper, announcing it was time to open Lennon's personal archives of
films, writings and photographs in order to make the definitive movie
of his life. Wolper agreed but not before he requested full control
over the project. Ono agreed and what resulted was an unprecedented
look into the public and private life of the superstar.
With band mate Paul McCartney,
Lennon wrote and recorded virtually all The Beatles' legendary song
hits, including "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," "She Loves You," "Sgt.
Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and countless others. After The
Beatles disbanded in 1970, Lennon continued to make his mark in music
history as a solo artist, producing some of his most enduring work,
including 1971's album "Imagine." Considered one of the most popular of
his solo works, the title track reached #3 on Billboard Magazine's Pop
Singles chart in 1971. "Imagine" became an anthem for anti-war
movements and has come to embody Lennon's legacy as a musician and
activist.

PRESS RELEASE
PAUL McCARTNEY
Profiled in the
Billboard Star Series
Special Report Hits
Newsstands on August 27th
Billboard, the world's most
trusted source of music, video and digital entertainment news, charts,
reviews and analysis, profiles Paul McCartney, one of the most
influential artists in pop history, with an in-depth Billboard Stars
special feature in the September 3rd issue of the magazine, on
newsstands August 27th. The tribute will also be posted on
www.billboard.com and will be available to fans at
www.orderbillboard.com/paul.
The Billboard Stars special
feature on Paul McCartney provides an intimate look at the artist and
the story behind the recording of his new album. The report precedes
the September 13th release of McCartney's 20th solo album, "Chaos and
Creation in the Backyard," and the launch of his US Tour, which opens
September 16th in Miami.
The Billboard Stars series
celebrates the achievements of artists, executives and companies that
have reached significant milestones. As such, the feature on Paul
McCartney will include:
* An exclusive Q&A interview
with McCartney on the surprising decisions that shaped "Chaos and
Creation in the Backyard"--his most vital album in many years.
* Insider reports on the
marketing of the album in the U.S. and around the world.
* Backstage news on how two top
concert promoters set aside their rivalry to present McCartney's
upcoming tour.
* An exclusive ranking of Paul
McCartney's albums and singles as they have appeared on the Billboard
charts throughout his career with the Beatles, Wings and as a solo
artist.
* Tributes from artists including
Keith Richards, Brian Wilson and Pete Townshend, citing their favorite
songs from McCartney's long career.
"For me, this new album
represents his best collection of material in a long time," says Andrew
Slater, chairman of Capitol Records. "All of his records have elements
of his immense talent as a singer, a writer, and a player, but on this
one, it really all comes together."

The 40th
Anniversary Of The Beatles At Shea Stadium Commemorated By TV Guide:

In the August 14 Cover Story (on
Newsstands August 11) TV Guide Magazine Commemorates 40th Anniversary
of The Beatles' Legendary 1965 Shea Stadium Concert
Wednesday August 10, 4:31 pm ET
Issue Features Four Collectible Covers and Never-Before-Published Photos
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug.
10, 2005--It was 40 years ago this week ... Four young lads from
Liverpool named John, Paul, George, and Ringo sprinted across the field
at Shea Stadium, plugged in their instruments, and -- after being
introduced by Ed Sullivan -- played to the deafening roar of 56,000
hysterical fans. It was the height of "Beatlemania"; the biggest and
highest-grossing rock concert ever staged up until that point.
In its August 14 issue (on
newsstands August 11), TV Guide magazine celebrates the anniversary of
this historic event, which changed the way rock music would be seen and
heard forever and marked the beginning of the end for the Beatles as
live performers. As John Lennon once said, "At Shea Stadium, I saw the
top of the mountain."
This commemorative issue of TV
Guide offers four collectible covers, one featuring each of the Fab
Four, plus first-person accounts from those who were lucky enough to
witness this watershed moment in music history. Those in the audience
on the night of August 15, 1965 included the future Mrs. Ringo Starr
(actress Barbara Bach) the future Mrs. Paul McCartney (photographer
Linda Eastman), Mick Jagger, Bobby Vinton, a teenaged Meryl Streep, and
"Little" Steven Van Zandt of "The Sopranos."
Also inside the issue are nine
pages of never before published photographs from the concert, taken by
George Orsino, a photographer from Philadelphia. Ironically, Orsino
wasn't supposed to be photographing the Beatles at all that night.
Accompanying a group of radio winners from Philly, he managed to sneak
backstage and snap several rolls of unauthorized pictures of the band
as they hung out backstage and prepared for their big performance.
"I think the camera -- a big 4 x
5 -- was impressive," he explains of his waltz backstage. Now 77 years
old, Orsino has just one regret about the event: "I wasn't even a
Beatles fan then -- if I was, maybe I'd have taken more film!"
